Personal Background

My name is Dustin Schlagel, creator of the PaperBoySports page. A little about me, I grew up in Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, a tiny farm town with a higher population of cows than people. I also grew up with a younger brother who shares my interest in sports like Lacrosse, Football, and Basketball.

Interests

One of the biggest passions in my life outside of my academic journey is my love for coaching. I am currently in my second season of Assistant coaching High School Lacrosse, and it has since become one of my greatest jobs in life and a staple in my professional career. outside of that, I'm just a dude who really loves sports!

My Education

I graduated from Knoch High School in 2021 and began my pursuit of a career in Journalism at Point Park University. after four semesters, I transferred to Slippery Rock University going into the Fall 2023 semester. Currently, I am a junior with my eyes set on breaking through into the great wide world of media.

Future Goals

My main goal since deciding to pursue media as a career has been to develop and create my own media brand. It's been a dream of mine since deciding this was the career path for me, and a goal that I'm determined to make a reality.

Challenges

Graduating High School only about a year after the COVID-19 pandemic started, made it harder to pursue interviews and in-person events, which in turn made being a journalist much more difficult. However, like many of my peers, I pushed through and started my professional career as a journalist.

Fun Facts

I am one of the youngest High School coaches in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) at 21 years old!
