Championship in April.

Las Vegas (Apr. 13, 2024) - With just two months’ time remaining until one of UFC’s biggest fight cards ever with UFC 300, many have been left in suspense as to what the main event of the card would be. Following the main event of UFC 298 on Sunday, Dana White removed all speculation as he announced a bout for the Light Heavyweight Championship between champion Alex Pereira (9-2) and former champion Jamahal Hill (12-1).

UFC 300, which will take place on April 13 in Las Vegas, features three championship fights with the addition of the main event. Also on the card, Justin Gaetjhe and Max Holloway will have a five-round bout for the BMF championship. Zhang Weili and Yan Xiaonan are also slated to fight for the Women’s Strawweight Championship, which will make history as the first UFC women’s championship match to feature two Chinese fighters.

Alex Pereira, who was recently inducted into the GLORY kickboxing Hall of Fame in November, looks to pick up his first title defense at Light Heavyweight. With just 11 total MMA fights under his belt, the Brazilian is off to an extremely hot start in his UFC career, as he’s become a two-division champion in both Middleweight and Light Heavyweight since his company debut in 2021. However, considering that the kickboxing legend has yet to pick up a successful title defense in either of those runs, he’ll be looking to add a much-needed title defense against Hill.

However, the Michigan native Jamahal Hill will prove to be a big roadblock for Pereira as he looks to reclaim the belt that he never lost. Following a unanimous decision championship win against future UFC Hall of Famer Glover Teixeira at UFC 283, Hill ruptured his Achilles and was forced to relinquish the title.

With so many major announcements for the fight card for UFC 300 over the past months, many were left to wonder what could top such a stacked main card. However, this high-stake championship bout shows to be an electric way to close out a historic night for the company.
